In 1950s Rio de Janeiro, Eurídice , 18, and Guida , 20, are two inseparable sisters, who live under the close watch of their conservative father, Manuel. Eurídice ambition is to train as a professional pianist in Vienna, while Guida desires the warmth of true love. The cold hand of patriarchy intervenes, cruelly separating the sisters and thwarting their true desires. Forced to live apart, they take control of their separate destinies, while never giving up hope of finding each other.
